Ébano Soulful Cuisine.
Visual identity and packaging design for a restaurant that values memory, presence, and care
We were responsible for the creation of the visual identity and packaging system for Ébano, a restaurant located in São Roque, in the countryside of São Paulo. More than just a gastronomic space, Ébano is a place of gathering, sharing, and connection built around food. From the start, we understood that this project called for a sensitive and intentional approach — one capable of visually translating the emotional experience the restaurant aims to offer.
We immersed ourselves in the brand’s universe through conversations with the founders, visits to the space, and research into the culinary proposal. We identified three core pillars that guided the entire creative development: inclusive, memorable, and eclectic. Ébano is not defined by a specific type of cuisine, but by a way of relating to ingredients, to time, and to those who gather around the table.
The identity is built on a balance between delicacy and presence. Handcrafted lace — a familiar item found on tablecloths across Brazil and part of the emotional memory of many homes — became one of our main visual references. We reinterpreted this symbolic element as texture, grid, and graphic structure, creating a language that conveys subtlety without losing strength.
The logotype was designed based on the qualities of ebony wood, known for its density, dark hue, and elegance. We developed a typeface with slightly rustic yet refined features, reinforcing the tension between tradition and modernity that defines the brand.
The color palette brings earthy, natural tones — such as ebony brown, ochre, and sand — in direct dialogue with the restaurant’s architecture and the ingredients used in the kitchen. These tones help convey a sense of warmth and connection to the land, bringing a tactile and sensory atmosphere to the visual system.
For packaging and printed materials, we explored physical textures, sustainable materials, and finishes that emphasize touch, reinforcing the human aspect of the brand. Every touchpoint was designed to deliver a coherent and immersive experience — from the menu to the signage, from the shopping bag to the digital environment.
The result is a visual identity that avoids clichés and ready-made formulas. A brand that communicates with subtlety and purpose, translating the act of cooking into a gesture of care and continuity. Ébano invites you to the table — and lingers in your memory.
